Zyma, founded in the area around Heidelberg and Mannheim in 1972, were a very Canterbury influenced progressive jazz-rock band but are not yet well-known in collectors' circles. 'Thoughts', from 1978, the first of two albums, can now be presented on CD. Also included were the two Zyma tracks from the 'Proton 1' compilation (Kerston FK 65017) released in 1974. As extra can be regarded the 24-page booklet in colour which is full of photos and a detailed account of the band history. Zyma's style might not be everyone's cup of tea but they are undoubtedly high-class musicians. On stage they managed to fill a whole evening with only four or five songs plus excessively long interludes.
